“I’m so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers.”

– L.M. Montgomery, Anne of Green Gables

I can’t describe my love for Colorado’s colorful Octobers any better than author L.M. Montgomery.

This particular image of the beautiful Aspen trees was taken near Aspen, CO. The Aspen colony is considered to be the largest living organism on the planet and could be one of the oldest as well. Each tree sprout is relatively short-lived, maxing out around 150 years, but the trees are connected through their root systems. An entire cluster of trees is considered one organism. The roots outlive the above ground trees and sprout new trees over time. One colony in Utah is believed to be 80,000 years old.
