Cristo de la Concordia

San De Cristo

The statue of Christ in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil may be the most famous statue of Christ, but this one in Cochabamba, Bolivia is slightly taller. Just over 33 meters tall, its height is meant to reference Jesus’ age at the time of His death.

I was told that this statue, the Cristo de la Concordia (Christ of Peace) was built as a reminder of the importance of peace for the country. Christ’s arms are oriented north and south, figuratively stretching out to bring the country together.
