This is the 450 foot tall Independence Monument in Colorado National Monument, located east of Fruita, Colorado. This rock was first climbed by John Otto on July 4th, 1911, the same year that President Taft declared the area a national monument. Upon reaching the summit, Otto hoisted an american flag to celebrate the nation’s birth. The tradition of raising the flag has continued to be celebrated every year for the past century.

This is beautiful and looks similar to much that can be seen in Utah.

Agreed! It is located very close to the Utah/Colorado Boarder so that is why.
