RockGarden

A view of the western side of the main rock fin formations that make up the Garden of the Gods.

As the story goes, the park got its name from the first two westerners to explore the land in the 1850s. One exclaimed that it would be a great place for a beer garden and the other said it was a place fit for the gods.

In 1909, the land was given by the Perkins family to the city of Colorado Springs. It was to be made into public lands with the understanding that it was to always be free to the public and kept in its natural state.
