Anyone whose childhood Christmas included watching the reclusive Grinch steal Christmas from the Whos down in Whoville and race to the top of a mountain know what I am referencing with my title—Mount Crumpit. That curly white cloud is very reminiscent of the top of Mount Crumpit from the pivotal change of heart scene in the classic childhood tale.
In reality, this is an image of the winter frozen and snowed covered Nymph Lake in Rocky Mountain National Park. This wide open area is actually a beautiful subalpine lake. This is an easy destination to reach from the Bear Lake area of the park and makes for a great winter snowshoe trek or a great stop on your way to Emerald Lake.
