This poofy-cheeked chipmunk and his dozens of friends live off the Rainbow Curve pullout along Trail Ridge Road in Rocky Mountain National Park. This little guy was chowing down on some sunflower seeds that were intentionally left behind by tourists. This is a bad practice and is why the dozens of chipmunks, birds, and other wildlife cluster in this location. They have lost all fear of humans and vehicles. They are subsequently often hit by cars. They can also become used to easy junk food and store it in their dens. The food can spoil, easily contaminating their entire supply and leave them without any stored food for the long winters. So when you think it is cute to feed the little fury creatures, think again. It is against the law in all national parks to feed wildlife for a reason.
