I found this geologic masterpiece while snowshoeing in Rocky Mountain National Park earlier this year. It is a section of a massive boulder that fell from the cliffs above and now sits on the far side of Emerald Lake. I think you can only reach the boulder by taking a very cold swim across in the summer or by walking across the frozen lake in the winter.
This rock was created within the depths of the earth. Minerals were swirled and compressed into this beautiful fluid design and yet over the course of time it ended up at the top of the Rocky Mountains. Our planet is an amazing place.
