The short 1/4 mile trail to Fish Creek Falls from the parking area north of Steamboat Springs, Colorado is very little effort for maximum payoff, but if you want to get the best vantage points of this gorgeous 283′ high waterfall you will need to get wet. Make your way into the frigid snow-fed creek and start your way upstream, climbing over the rocks and boulders that make up the creek bed. It is a sublime thing to be a part of nature in this way. The sound of rushing water encapsulating you in the place, in the moment.
For those of you who are wondering, I didn’t see any fish in Fish Creek.
