New Zealand is one of the most beautiful places I have ever visited. It seems as though every square inch is covered in ever-changing beauty. The gorgeous fjords and the southern alps of the South Island are only rivaled by the rolling green hills and ruggedly breathtaking volcanoes found on the North Island. No other place on earth has such amazing diversity in such a small land mass. These beauties are only amplified when viewed in the early dawn light… as a New Zealand sunrise.
I found this stunning New Zealand sunrise while driving through the rolling green pastures on the west side of the North Island. This is very near to where parts of the movie The Hobbit were filmed. Jennifer and I were being led on a rather scenic route by Google maps while searching for the Marokopa Falls. It was a memorable experience and a reminder of why sometimes the best way to get to know a place is to get lost in it.
