Let Freedom Ring

I took this image last month before watching the 4th of July fireworks at Memorial Park in Colorado Springs. I was trying to capture the gorgeous Colorado sunset, but this little girl was having way too much fun splashing around and throwing mud into the lake to allow me a clear shot. In the back…

A Grand View at Grand Canyon National Park

This grand view is the Trail View Point along the South Rim Trail inside Grand Canyon National Park. Out of all the spectacular viewpoints along the South Rim, I think this is my favorite. The rock that Jennifer is perched on juts out above the canyon like few other places along the Rim. One of…

Vibrant Indian Paintbrush

It is finally summer in Colorado…well, maybe. Earlier this week we had a cold snap and it was back down into the 40’s we go. Seriously, I was wearing a sweater in late June. Global warming?… I’m just asking. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think pollution is a good thing. Alas, it is summer…

Lesser Goldfinch

The Lesser Goldfinch seems no lesser to me than any other golden finch, but alas, it is the name that man in our infinite wisdom has given to this brightly colored bird. I like his mohawk… do you think that is bed head or is he using product? 🙂 I found this stunning specimen of…

A young teenager seemingly lost at sea…. He stood there on the edge of the Gulf of Mexico for a long while watching the waves roll in upon the north Florida shore. All the while he stood resolute as if waiting for something to happen. It is nice to slow down in life and just…

Sunset on Open Water

A beautiful view of the setting sun to close out the day after a full day of exploring the tiny Caribbean island of Martinique. I’m not a huge fan of cruises because I’d much rather spend more time at the destinations engrossing myself in the culture. Fourteen hours in a place is hardly enough time…

Red Sea Anemones

I found these gorgeous cherry-looking Sea Anemones clinging to the rocks on the secluded West End Beach of Ulva Island in New Zealand.  The beach is named West End, because it is the western most beach on the island. (Those European names are so clever and original.) When I came across these sea anemones I wasn’t…

Bridging Oceans

You are looking at a crossroads between land and sea, ocean and ocean, and really the world. The bridge in the background is the Centennial Bridge that allows Panama City, Panama’s traffic to cross over the historic Panama Canal. From this road you can eventually explore all of North America (given the proper visas anyways)….
